About Sebastian
Sebastian Fritsch, born in Stuttgart in 1996, has won numerous national and international competitions. He recently won 2nd prize at the George Enescu International Competition, in 2019 the renowned German Music Competition and the Audience Prize, 1st prize at the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy University Competition and in 2018 1st prize at the TONALi Cello Competition. Here he was also awarded the Audience Prize, the Mariinsky Special Prize and the Saltarello Special Prize.
He began his studies with Jean-Guihen Queyras at the Freiburg University of Music in 2014 and continued in 2018 in the cello class of Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar. Sebastian Fritsch has been studying at Kronberg Academy with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt since autumn 2020. The cellist received important musical impulses from Wen-Sinn Yang, Jens Peter Maintz, David Geringas, Ivan Monighetti and Frans Helmerson, among others. In addition, he works with his longtime teacher Lisa Neßling and is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy Liechtenstein.

As a soloist he has performed with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra in St. Petersburg, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Nürnberger Symphoniker in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Konzerthaus Berlin, among others.
He has made guest appearances at festivals such as the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, the Salzburg Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
Sebastian Fritsch plays a cello made by Thorsten Theis in 2016, which was made available to him by the Karl Schlecht Foundation.
