About Jason
JASON LIPPMANN plays Larsen Magnacore Arioso strings and has been a cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since the 2004/05 season. He has appeared as a soloist with the Philharmonic in Walt Disney Concert Hall and is a frequent collaborator in the ensemble’s chamber music series.
Some of his notable chamber collaborations include performances with Joshua Bell, Janine Jansen, and Brett Dean. As a regular performer with the orchestra’s Green Umbrella series, Lippmann has performed numerous contemporary works, most recently by Frank Zappa, Nico Muhly, John Adams, Phillip Glass, and Thomas Ades.
Prior to his appointment with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, he was a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Lippmann has also performed with the Baltimore Symphony, both the Cincinnati Symphony and Opera, the New World Symphony, the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and at the Bard and Bellingham Music Festivals.
In addition to his orchestral career, Lippmann often works as a studio musician and has played many film scores including Eat, Pray, Love; Mc Farland, U.S.A.; The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Penny Dreadful, and House of Cards.
Along with his wife, flutist Keren Schweitzer, he has performed in concert at the University of Houston and Cerritos College and has appeared at numerous National Flute Association Conventions including Chicago, IL, Anaheim, CA, and Charlotte, NC.
Lippmann received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with David Geber, Alan Stepansky and Peter Wiley.
